We're painting!

When we last left you we'd finished sheetrocking.  We had planned to hire a drywall finisher to tape and plaster the room. Our original guy didn't work out...and thus we lost a week of productivity.  I sent a frantic text to my sister-in-law last Thursday and literally within an hour and a half she had a name and number of someone we could call that could start on Monday. We called him that night and he came Monday - Thursday and when I came home from Omaha on Friday afternoon, the kitchen was ready for painting!

We had a 2-gallon bucket of primer in the basement which I thought would be plenty for the kitchen and bathroom. We ran out of paint just before rolling the ceiling.  That's how painting ended Friday night and we'd go to the store Saturday morning to get another 2-gallon bucket of primer.  4 gallons of primer did 2 coats on most of the kitchen and we'd bought some primer/ceiling paint to get the remainder of the ceiling.

BTW paint has gone up! I went to Sherwin-Williams to pick up ceiling paint, a quart of paint for the accent wall in the bathroom, a gallon of paint for the bathroom, 2 new rollers and a paint brush --- $125! We're still deciding on a paint color for the kitchen -- but leading toward Silver Sage by Restoration Hardware.

We're going to try and paint the ceiling, bathroom and kitchen this week. We're also getting our hardwood floors installed in the kitchen. The hardwood underneath the kitchen floor was in somewhat rough shape from the large nails they used. We're replacing the hardwood floor in the kitchen and leaving the bathroom which is in good shape.  Once they lay the floor down we'll be able to start hanging the cabinets!!!
